Vineet Saraiwala, who lives with a visual disability, aimed to challenge the commonly held notion of people with impairments being viewed with sympathy and having their talents questioned. He pursued this goal during his participation in the second season of Shark Tank India.

The founder of “Atypical Advantage,” Vineet Saraiwala, hails from Jamshedpur and asserts that his platform is the largest job portal in India that is inclusive of people with disabilities.

During his appearance on Shark Tank, Vineet recalls being asked why he appeared cheerful despite his disability. He believes that this challenges the common stereotype of disabled individuals being portrayed as sad or depressed. For him, the experience was a celebration of inclusivity.

In a conversation, the 32-year-old Vineet also shares tips on avoiding common mistakes when pitching to Shark Tank investors, and shares the lessons he learned from being on the show.

Strategies to Deliver a Flawless Pitch

  • Authenticity is the key.

Authenticity is essential. He says being genuine piques sharks’ interest as they listen to several pitches. “Smile while giving your pitch. Have the correct intentions and keep it from becoming a stressful activity.

  • Practice the skill of Storytelling.

As an entrepreneur, you must be skilled at telling stories. Everyone is unique and has a variety of experiences. It would help if you practiced telling your story or describing your life’s path in less than three minutes. Vineet recommends that it must be done in the most persuading manner possible.

  • State your vision and purpose clearly.

Entrepreneurs must be clear about their company’s mission and vision before pitching. Know what you can anticipate in 10, 20, and 30 years if the firm succeeds, adds Vineet.

  • Know the numbers

Since you are a business owner and founder, you are expected to be well-versed in all financial information about your organisation. Vineet advises you to practice those numbers before your pitch.

  • Lower the ask

The size of the agreement is crucial. Vineet asserts that it is always preferable to request a smaller amount. Maintain a low ask price to strike a deal. If you desire an agreement, your odds of conversion are higher the lower it is.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Make no compromises

Founders frequently provide larger equity to sharks out of their passion. Vineet advises against attempting to obtain a deal compromise with excessive equity because you might regret it later.

  •  Know your sharks well.

Vineet advises businesspeople to do homework on the sharks they plan to engage. Every shark exhibits their distinct experiences. Examine their professional history.

  • Do not falter

Vineet claims that entrepreneurs need help to express their company intentions. Individuals need to put more effort into honing their storytelling abilities, which may be why they don’t advance to the TV round. Vineet suggests focusing on keeping your TV viewers interested.
