Later she moved to Porto, Portugal, to teach English as a foreign language. She was struggling by ensuring to teach at day and was writing in the night.  She got married to Jorge Arantes, a journalist. Rowling suffered a miscarriage and later they were blessed with a child name Jessica Isabel Rowling Arantes. It was also rumoured that Rowling suffered from domestic abuse during her marriage, although the source is unknown. The couple got separated and Rowling with her infant moved to Edinburg, Scotland.  This was a very difficult phase for her because her marriage had failed, she was jobless with her child. She was also diagnosed with depression and contemplated suicide. She signed up for welfare benefits characterizing her economic situation as “poor as it is possible to be in modern Britain, without being homeless.”

She was divorced in 1994 and later she began a teacher training course in August 1995 at the Moray House School of Education, at Edinburgh University, after that she wrote novels in many Cafés.

From 1995 her great time began, she finished her manuscript for Harry Potter and the philosopher’s stone. She received a great response on that by Bryony Evans, who had been asked to review the book’s first three chapters. The book was then submitted to 12 Publishing houses, which was initially rejected by all. Later she was finally given the green light by editor Barry Cunningham from Bloomsbury, a publishing house in London. She was advised to take a day job because of little hope of making money from Children’s book.

In 1997 she received 8000 Pounds from the Scottish art council to continue writing. There was no stop for J.K Rowling after this. After a series of her Harry Potter book published, she received many awards for her books and was named the best Author. She approximately received 21 plus awards for the Harry Potter series.
