In October 2016, two women entrepreneurs Nikkitha Shanker and Saira Hassan, founded Shoppre, a Bengaluru-based assisted retail marketplace that enables global shipping of products from India. It helps personal shoppers and small businesses across 140 countries to source a mix of several Indian products at one time. The portal now boasts 70,000+ registrations. It has delivered 20,000+ international orders totalling over INR 14 crores.

i. Shop and Ship
The shop and ship service allows international buyers to shop online in India. A customer can place orders from any Indian online store and can receive them as a consolidated package. ii. Shoppre Courier
Offered from any part of India, Shoppre professionals come to the doorstep in 24-48 hours of receiving the order and dispatch the package to the destination anywhere in the selected 140 countries within 3-6 business days.
According to Nikitha, “A year into the operation, we started getting requests from small businesses facing challenges regarding regulations, customs, and management to export. That is when we began working closely with small businesses.”

Shoppre and not shopping spree brings friends together
Growing up in the Middle East, Nikkitha Shanker and Saira Hassan attended the same school. Nikitha moved to Calicut to complete her bachelor’s in technology from NIT, and a data analytics programme from IIM Rohtak. Saira earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture from American University in Sharjah.
In 2017, the friends came together to start Shoppre to simplify getting Indian goods for the NRI community and cross border shipping from India to the rest of the world.
On the Rise
In 2021, Shoppre was ranked among the top 3 startups at Goldman Sachs 10,000 women programme at IIM Bangalore and accelerated at Jio-GenNext by Reliance. Today, the startup offers service in 140 countries from its new and bigger warehouse.
FY20-21 saw an increase of 150% in the business. According to Nikitha, “Individuals who earlier used to journey to get the merchandise themselves or ask buddies and family members to ship sure merchandise have come to our platform.”
