Over time, Kutchina evolved into a comprehensive kitchen and home appliances brand, expanding its product range to include modular kitchens, microwaves, dishwashers, induction cookers, hand blenders, and toasters.

He recognized the value of gaining experience and knowledge, which propelled him to work various jobs while pursuing his studies. With an initial investment of Rs 30,000, Namit kickstarted his business by purchasing chimneys on a half-cash, half-credit basis. The high-profit margins in the business enabled him to accumulate considerable wealth between 1998 and 2002, reigniting his dreams of establishing his own brand.
However, establishing Kutchina as a recognizable brand in a market dominated by multinational corporations presented its own set of challenges. Despite being a Kolkata-based brand, Namit encountered difficulties in convincing retailers to stock his products. Undeterred by this, he organized numerous exhibitions to directly showcase his products to customers, leveraging his expertise in sales and marketing accumulated over the years.
Namit astutely identified a gap in the market for chimneys with superior suction capabilities, tailored to suit Indian cooking that often involves oil, ghee, and butter. He developed chimneys with auto-cleaning mechanisms, offering customers the option to pay after installation, ensuring their satisfaction. This innovative approach struck a chord with customers and propelled the growth of Kutchina.
Over the years, Kutchina steadily expanded its product line and experienced significant growth. In the fiscal year 2002-03, the company generated close to Rs 1 crore in revenue. By diversifying its offerings and maintaining an unwavering focus on quality, Kutchina’s turnover surpassed Rs 100 crore in 2011-12 and reached Rs 200 crore by 2017-18.
Namit’s dedication to personal growth is evident through his pursuit of education and learning opportunities. Alongside running his business, he acquired post-graduate diplomas in import-export and sales and marketing. Additionally, he completed a three-year management development program at Harvard, attending classes for one month each year. Currently, Kutchina Homemakers Private Limited boasts a widespread network of distributors and dealers across the nation. Their products are available on various e-commerce platforms as well as in retail outlets. Although chimneys continue to be Kutchina’s flagship product, accounting for approximately 60% of their sales, the brand has diversified its offerings. It now provides a wide range of kitchen appliances to cater to the evolving needs of consumers. From microwaves and dishwashers to induction cookers and hand blenders, Kutchina ensures that customers have access to high-quality, innovative products for their homes.
